CAYCE PATTERSON
Cayce McCall Patterson grew up in Laurinburg, NC. Her family
bought a house on Ocean Isle Beach when she was eight years
old. Her love of the ocean and watersports sparked her interest in
surfing at 13, and she began competing at age 18. After receiving
a BA in Biology from UNC-Chapel Hill, Cayce went to Physical
Therapy School at East Carolina University (escaping to the Outer
Banks most weekends to surf). She graduated with a Masters' of
Physical Therapy in 1998, then moved to California to pursue her
love of surfing. While in California, Cayce worked as a surf
instructor, physical therapist, and exercise consultant. She also
competed in numerous pro-am surfing events. She has travelled
throughout California, Mexico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Puerto
Rico surfing. Reese and Cayce decided to move to North Carolina
in 2001, after the birth of their daughter, Codie.

Cayce is currently employed as the Physical Therapist for
Currituck County Schools. She is certified in First Aid and CPR.
She wishes to share her knowledge of surfing to make a
beginners' first experience safe and successful!!
Peyton has been surfing for twenty-five years. Growing up in
Virginia Beach, he discovered his affinity for surfing. After serving
in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves and graduating from Old
Dominion University with a BS in Psychology, Peyton moved to the
Outer Banks of North Carolina. There he would continue to fulfill
his passion for surfing while obtaining a teacher's certification from
East Carolina University, and working with at-risk children in the
mental health arena. In 2004, Peyton, his wife Heather, and
daughter Paxon, moved to Wilmington where he continued to work
with high risk youth in a treatment setting. Currently, he is
employed as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for Brunswick
County Schools.

Peyton has surfed competitively on the East Coast since 1983, but
finds the greatest satisfaction in free-surfing with friends and
passing down his love for surfing to his daughter and anyone
eager to learn. He believes surfing to be very therapeutic and
challenging, thus contributing to a greater sense of self
accomplishment and confidence.
