| Reese Patterson grew up in Redondo Beach, California. He began surfing at age six, competing in the amateur ranks at age nine, and moved to Hawaii at sixteen to pursue a professional surfing career. Reese has travelled the world (Brazil, Australia, France, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, Portugal, England, Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Hawaii) competing professionally in longboard and shortboard events. He competed in the Pipeline Masters, OP pro Huntington Beach, and was on the ASP world tour for 5 years, reaching a ranking of number 4 in the world longboarding. Reese was one of the first people to surf Puerto Escondido on a longboard (with Joel Tudor) back in 1994. He was one of the inventors of the high-performance longboard. He is a dedicated waterman, certified Lifeguard, and trained in First Aid and CPR. Reese has spent many years coaching up-and-coming professional surfers, as well as sharing his experience with beginners. Reese has dedicated his life to surfing, and wishes to educate beginner surfers in proper etiquette, ocean safety, and effective techniques to enhance their surfing experience. |

| CAYCE PATTERSON |
| Cayce McCall Patterson grew up in Laurinburg, NC. Her family bought a house on Ocean Isle Beach when she was eight years old. Her love of the ocean and watersports sparked her interest in surfing at 13, and she began competing at age 18. After receiving a BA in Biology from UNC-Chapel Hill, Cayce went to Physical Therapy School at East Carolina University (escaping to the Outer Banks most weekends to surf). She graduated with a Masters' of Physical Therapy in 1998, then moved to California to pursue her love of surfing. While in California, Cayce worked as a surf instructor, physical therapist, and exercise consultant. She also competed in numerous pro-am surfing events. She has travelled throughout California, Mexico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Puerto Rico surfing. Reese and Cayce decided to move to North Carolina in 2001, after the birth of their daughter, Codie. Cayce is currently employed as the Physical Therapist for Currituck County Schools. She is certified in First Aid and CPR. She wishes to share her knowledge of surfing to make a beginners' first experience safe and successful!! |
| Peyton has been surfing for twenty-five years. Growing up in Virginia Beach, he discovered his affinity for surfing. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves and graduating from Old Dominion University with a BS in Psychology, Peyton moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There he would continue to fulfill his passion for surfing while obtaining a teacher's certification from East Carolina University, and working with at-risk children in the mental health arena. In 2004, Peyton, his wife Heather, and daughter Paxon, moved to Wilmington where he continued to work with high risk youth in a treatment setting. Currently, he is employed as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for Brunswick County Schools. Peyton has surfed competitively on the East Coast since 1983, but finds the greatest satisfaction in free-surfing with friends and passing down his love for surfing to his daughter and anyone eager to learn. He believes surfing to be very therapeutic and challenging, thus contributing to a greater sense of self accomplishment and confidence. |









| JULIA LAPERRIERE |
| Julia is seventeen years old, and has been surfing for 7 years. She lives in Canada and has been coming to Ocean Isle every summer with her family since she was an infant. Her brother taught her how to surf, and is her greatest inspiration. She frequents St. Laurent's River in Montreal to surf (until it gets too cold), as well as Ocean City, and Cape Hatteras. Julia speaks French, English, and Spanish fluently. She is a lifeguard, ski instructor, and circus instructor. Julia worked as a counselor at the Ocean Isle Community Center daily camps last summer, and assisted with private surfing lessons for Surf Academy. |

| Taylor is a 16 year old from Sanford, N.C. who spends every summer in Ocean Isle. She has been surfing for four years, and has visited Hawaii. Taylor reports, "surfing is a perfect sport for me because I love being outdoors, and it's an exciting way to enjoy the beach. Not only is it fun, but a great way to meet new friends." Last summer she graduated from Ocean Isle Surf Academy then worked part time as a junior surf instructor. |

| Lindsey Lewis is a seventeen year old from Charlotte NC. Ocean Isle has been her summer home since she was 3 years old. While soccer and basketball are her year round sports she dedicates her summer to surfing. At 11 years old she started surfing and has loved it ever since. She has surfed at Wrightsville Beach and Folly Beach. Last summer Lindsey graduated from Ocean Isle Surf Academy and worked part time as a junior surf instructor. She gained lots of useful tips that helped enhance her surfing technique, now she hopes to share her knowledge with beginners. |



| Codie shares her parents' love of the ocean and began surfing at 18 months old. She placed 2nd overall in the ESA's SNC Girl's division, also 5th in the Menehune and Girl's division of the Hot Wax Challenge in Fort Fort Fisher this year. |
